I was born in the Bronx, and grew up in several rural towns within an hour's drive of NYC.  I started playing drums in 5th grade and spent several years banging out rudiments on a practice pad in the hills of Hopatcong, NJ.  My Mom cleaned houses, and one of her customers had a set of Gretsch drums gathering dust.  I still own that kit, and I'm proud to share time on it with my son who is learning to play.
I always loved music and drumming, but never really considered it as a vocation.  My parents advised "play your music, just have a trade to fall back on".  I wasn't ready for college and enlisted in the USAF.  I learned electronics and worked on radios in Titan II missile silos, which was pretty surreal for a sci-fi reading, cold war-era kid.
After four great years, I loaded my drums into my '68 Chevy Van and headed east with a pocketful of GI Bill college money.   I parlayed my associates degree into a BS in Engineering Technology, and met the love of my life halfway through the process.  We got married and moved to Raleigh NC, where I unwittingly stepped onto the high-tech treadmill (and have been running ever since). We are proud parents of two fantastic kids that are resourceful, creative, and fun to be around.
I honestly never thought I would play in a band again, but a party-turned-jam-session reminded me how much I loved playing.  One night while selling a guitar on craigslist, I saw a post "Drummer Wanted".  The ad had a myspace link, and I couldn't believe the surf, lounge, and funk tracks Killer Filler was playing.    If that weren't enough, I instantly recognized Crispy from SCOTS and decided to give it a go.  Never say never.
