Killer Filler Press Release - May 7, 2008

KILLER FILLER IS NUMBER ONE!  WELL, SORT OF...
Shock and surprise abounded in the Killer Filler group, as our first born CD, Filler Up!, made it all the way to the top of WXDU's playlist on April 28th.  This is all the more impressive when you factor in that no CD's were ever sent to Wxdu in the first place (True, we DID give a couple to our buddy/CD graphic designer/Who's Got the Cuckoo deejay Robbie Poore, but due to the conflicts that only newborn twins and a day job can create, he was late in getting them there).  Another interesting twist; way down the playlist, around number 70, is the St. Louis-based band Elanor Roosevelt, a group keyboardist Crispy Bess used to play in nearly 20 years ago, back when they were called Enormous Richard, and a band thought long ago defunct.  Funny how things come back at cha'.

KF GUITARIST ATTENDS BAND REUNION...AND SURVIVES!
Celebrations all-around as KF guitarist Bryon Settle returns from his two-day, marathon reunion/party of the legendary Pressure Boys.  The Specials-influenced ska/new wave outfit reunited for the first time in twenty years, all in the name of fighting cystic fibrosis.  The two shows held at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro were jam-packed and fun-filled, and a heckuva time was had by band and audience alike. Bryon admitted he was "nervous as all get out" before show time, but he, like the rest of band, kicked royal arse. Totals raised for the charity were not yet disclosed at the time of this E-mail, but were believed to have easily exceeded five figures.  Hot Dog!

GET "FILLER UP!" ONLINE!
Although our official CD release party is June 13th, those who cannot make it, who do not live in the area, are painfully shy, or elderly shut-ins may now buy our CD at either Amazon.com or CD Baby.com, whichever they prefer.  Sales have been brisk already, and interestingly enough have consisted of people from the far reaches of the globe, from Vancouver to London, to Thailand!  How'd these folks learn about us?

KF INVADES RALEIGH
Killer Filler, better known for haunting the Chapel Hill scene, finally attempts a full "Saturation" of the Acorn City this May.  Starting at Sadlack's on May 10th, Artsplosure on May 17th, (opening the Wake Med stage), Ruckus Pizza on the 24th, and the Capital City Grocery on May 30th.  If this don't win the Raleigh-ites over to our instro-madness...we'll try again later.

KF EATS BRAINS!
Sunday, May 18th, KF gets creepy with "Monster Creature Feature" host Ormon Grimsby for a special Zombie Party show with musical co-horts The Tremors, Dexter Romweber, and the theremin/saw duo of Melissa Swingle and Billy Sugarfix.  KF has been working with Ormon, writing new theme music for his show, (some of which will premier this very evening), and will likely be featured in the flesh--hopefully still living flesh-- in future episodes of MCF. http://caverntavern.com/special/zombieparty.shtml

KF SAVES CHRISTMAS....IN MAY?
If all this wasn't enough on a bands' table, Killer Filler will be attempting to record a new "sassy-fresh" medley of the Christmas classics "I Saw Three Ships" and "The First Noel", for a new Holly Raleigh Xmas compilation.  We say "attempting" because the band has until June 1st to complete said medley, and only just now got started on the thing.  Will they complete a recording on time that doesn't suck from the rush?  Stay Tuned.
