I grew up in Greenville, SC, a great little city at the foot of the Appalachian mountains.  As a boy I was into swim team, soccer, reading, and singing in choirs.  At the fifth grade Christmas pageant I did the Chipmunks song with two other kids in three-part acapella harmony.  My mom was a piano teacher and church organist but thankfully she didn't insist on my learning keys.  At 14 I did take a year of guitar lessons, but once I discovered bicycle racing, the Korean strat and 10-watt amp were hurled unceremoniously into a closet.  For ten years I was obsessed with cycling and raced in 38 states as well as the Tour of Serbia and Tour of Tibet.  While riding 300 miles a week I managed to finish high school at the SC Governor's School for Science & Math and college at Furman University.  I stopped racing at age 25 and soon after learned to play a bass along with songs on the radio.  Last year I became the Luckiest Schmuck in the World when I passed the muster of the Killer Filler guys and leapt aboard their delightfully-quirky ship.  What a short, strange trip it's been!
